Tri-Cities Mountaineers Give Roster Major Facelift

Tri-Cities GM Andrew Read gave his team a whole new look following the club’s huge loss to Long Beach.  Read started from the net out, cutting Jeff Frazee and replacing him with Tyler Weiman, who they, ironically, claimed off waivers from Long Beach.  He wouldn’t be the Mountaineers’ only waiver wire pickup, claiming forward, Andrew MacDonald from the Colorado Cutthroats and defenseman, Jeff Penner, another Long Beach waiver claim.   Jonathan Matsumoto, who Tri-Cities had released earlier this season, was re-signed to the roster as well.  The only bonafide free agent signed on by Tri-Cities was forward, Ryan Bayda.

As far as other moves, Read activated Oscar Moller from NHL Status and released Johnny Boychuk, who had been serving NHL Status at the time of his contract nullification.  To refill their NHL spots, Read assigned forwards Jamie McGinn and Michael Repik.  Also released were forward, Andreas Nodl and defensemen, Jamie McBain and Ivan Vishnevskiy.
