Kings end losing streak; Virginia Beach doesn’t, Louisiville wins, 15-12

The reigning Neilson Cup champion, Louisville Kings, were mired in a three-game losing streak, falling from first to third place in the Shore Conference.  But that was before they met a lowlier team, the Virginia Beach Bullsharks, dredging through in a three-game losing streak of their own and wallowing in the Shore Conference cellar.  For a change, it wasn’t because of goaltending that the B-sharks lost.  Newly acquired Alexander Salak lived up to his expectations in a great game between the pipes.  It was just a flat-out lack of offense, with Andrew Gordon leading the team with 3 points.  Three other Bullsharks players had a pair of points each.  On the other side of the ice, Corey Locke exploded for 7 points for the Kings and a surprising offensive surge from David Desharnais, who pitched in 5 points.  John Curry didn’t have his greatest showing in the Louisville net, but, thanks to his teammates, he didn’t have to.  The loss drops Virginia Beach to last place overall in the league, and it is so bad that the next to last team is still six points ahead of Virginia Beach.  With only three wins this season, Virginia Beach has only won 8 games in the 46 they have played since being best overall and a Neilson Cup finalist in 2007-08.
